Nigerian and Watford H0t striker Odion Ighalo has rejected a £12m move to Athletico Madrid and subsequently rejecting the chance to play in Uefa Champions League.
WATFORD hotshot Odion Ighalo has told Atletico Madrid: “I want to stay in the Premier League.” Ighalo, who has 14 goals this term, is a £12million target for the Spanish side. EPL big guns are also eyeing the Nigerian.
A source close to Ighalo said: “Atletico have watched him FIVE times already this season and are desperate to take him to Madrid. They have practically offered to double his wages, with big bonuses added on.
“He remains their top priority and they have refused to go away even though he has twice told them ‘no’.”
Ighalo, whose 14 goals have all come in the EPL, is determined to stay in England. The 26-year-old scored 30 League goals in 2015, more than any other player in the country’s top four tiers and is on a five-year deal at Watford.
The source added: “Even though some top Premier League clubs have also spoken to his agent, nothing has happened yet.”
